Your bond protects the public. This is the one that protects you.
Your notary bond does not protect you. It protects the public, and if the surety pays a claim it comes after you for the money. Errors and omissions is the one that pays for your own mistake.
Available in 35 states, with the coverage amount chosen at checkout. Most notaries buy and download the policy in a few minutes.
E&O is sold in steps, and the lowest ones cover the mistake a notary actually makes: a missed journal entry, a wrong date, an improper identification. The smaller policies handle those at a fraction of the cost of the high limits.
Buy a higher limit when someone else sets the number. Signing services and title companies often require a specific amount before they will add you to their list, and a lender may name a figure in writing. Short of that, the low end is usually enough.
The bond is required by your state. It pays the public, and then you repay the surety. E&O is optional, it pays your defence and the claim, and you do not pay it back. Carrying one does not cover the other.
Every link below goes straight to checkout, where you pick your coverage amount.
